“She could never go back and make some of the details pretty. All she could do was move forward and make the whole beautiful.” -Terri St. Cloud
Last week, we talked about how you get a big voice in how you want to determine your destiny. We also talked about the role that essential oils can play in your life.
I promised that I would teach you how to take the path of your choice, and as promised, I have two roadmaps here! Which one will youchoose to take?
How to treat essential oils like a Fad:
1) Getting them at the most convenient place for the most convenient price
2) Get a little collection going
3) Store them all on a shelf in direct sunlight and heat
4) Comment to your friends “Don’t they look nice up there!”
5) Buy only the ones you think smell nice
6) Never actually use them, just look at them once in awhile
This will get you a fun little collection and nothing more.
How to treat essential oils FOR REAL:
1. Get a brand that is worthy of your trust and investment.
The ones you get at the health food store aren’t going to cut it for you. Aromatherapy Threads uses the highest quality essential oil. Sourcing is important to us. Here are two things to keep in mind as you get started. A) Look for a few things listed on the bottle, including genus and species, as well as information about internal use. B) When looking at brands, make sure that the oil is grown and harvested according to its indigenous home and therapeutic grade standards.
2. Be willing to add some things in your home that support your use of essential oils.
Ideas include: Therapy Thread aromatherapy scarves, glass water bottle, diffuser, books on using essential oils. These things will help make your healthy habits enjoyable and sustainable!
3. Get education on how to use them!
There are lots of reputable websites that provide essential oil education. Shop around!
4. Take them seriously and treat them with the respect they deserve!
Strong things come in small packages. Make sure that you use them appropriately. Less is often more with essential oils. For instance, Oregano oil has a lot of benefits, but can really burn/irritate the skin, so make sure you keep it out of reach of children and use with care. Always read labeling and follow instructions.
5. Decide to take a step towards becoming accustomed to them each day.
Play with them a little (keeping in mind #4). Learn something new every day about essential oils. Don’t just leave them on your shelf, they won’t do any good for you if they are trapped in a bottle. There are many apps that you can get on your phone to get a little knowledge daily. A little knowledge every day adds up to a wealth of knowledge in a short time!
6. Incorporate them into your routines.
You shower regularly right? You don’t really think about the benefits of showering, because it has just become a habit for you. Incorporate essential oils into your routines so that they become habits, and then take inventory of the benefits. We’ll be looking at some ideas of how to do that in future posts.
7. Talk to your medical health professional.
It’s always always always a good idea to keep an open line of communication with your doctor, therapist, psychologist, physical therapist, trainer, coach- EVERYONE who has a hand in helping you stay healthy especially when you are changing things in your life! Let them know that you are interested in using essential oils to support your health and let them know what routines you’re building. Every person’s body is uniquely designed, and what works for someone else, may not be a good idea for you. The professionals in your life can be an amazing sounding board for you to decide what’s good for you!
Keep in mind that this is a PROCESS, start with baby steps.
Celebrate the healthy steps you ARE taking. You can trust that the healthy decisions you make today will impact your tomorrow!
Remember, no matter the past, no matter the path you’ve been on up to this point, the WHOLE will be absolutely be beautiful because you can make it that way.
You get to hold the brush in the artwork of your life.
We’ll continue looking at essential oils in more blog posts. This list isn’t exhaustive. So stay tuned to keep learning more!
Now I would love to hear from you.
